As early as 1937 it was noted that a diabetic could control their sugar tolerance with a lower level of insulin, simply by ingesting vitamin C, and in 1939 Bartelheimer observed that “Vitamin C increases the effectiveness of the action of insulin”. This was confirmed by Rogoff in 1944.
