My personal story.
When I had a dead tooth my holistic dentist - who had previously replaced all my mercury fillings, suggested that I have a root canal procedure. When I refused he did not appear surprised, and commented that he wouldn't have agreed to the procedure on himself either. This sounded strange, but he told me that he was obliged by dental association regulations to offer me the procedure.
So, what is a Root Canal procedure?
When decay in a tooth sets in and goes beyond the enamel to infect the dentin layer beneath, and eventually reaches the nerve structure (pulp), of the tooth, then this nerve structure begins to die.
A root canal procedure is intended to disinfect the internal structure of the tooth.
The tooth is deadened by anaesthetics, and the decay, the pulp, and nerve tissue in the tooth's roots are removed. The inside of the tooth chamber is sterilised, and filled with a rubbery substance called gutta-percha, designed to seal the internal structure of the tooth.
Because the tooth is severely weakened, it usually requires a crown to strengthen and protect it.
The “science” of the procedure declares that the inside of the tooth is completely sterilised, but this is where everything in the “science” falls apart.
Dr. Weston Price
Dr. Weston Price, D,D,S,, M.S., director of research for the ADA for fourteen years, published many articles in the 1920's telling of the dangers of root-filled teeth. Dr. Weston Price and Mayo's Clinic of 1910 to 1920 described finding bacterial growth in root canals that could be transferred into animals and create the same diseases the donor human had, in from 80 to 100 percent of the animals.
Heart disease, in particular, could be transferred 100 percent of the time.
Dr. Price's research has since been suppressed by the various Dental Associations in the United States.
The Toxic Element Research Foundation (TERF), a non-profit research foundation, picked up from where Dr. Price left off. Using state of the art DNA testing technology, they identified multiple pathological bacteria found within root canal teeth, the bone adjacent to the teeth, and even more in extraction sites where healing has not taken place. This non–healing occurs in greater than 99 percent of wisdom tooth extraction sites.
Even as far back as 1908, microbiology researchers from Mayo's Clinic and from the dental association at the time found that bacteria and their toxins from root canals could enter the blood stream and travel to any point in the body, and generate disease to that tissue or organ. The dental association, concerned about liability issues, insisted that the nerve chamber in the center of the tooth could be effectively sterilized
It is only your immune system that is keeping your health balanced, but it only takes a stressful event to lower your immune response and then you can show multiple symptoms of deteriorating health, with no apparent cause. The medical profession describes these symptoms as being of "Unknown etiology", which mean that "they haven't a clue what the cause is."
Root Canals and ThyroiD
The main issue of Root Canal-treated teeth and the thyroid system is the bacterial toxins produced within the tubules of the dentine. These tubules provide an ideal environment for the bacteria to multiply undisturbed by antibiotics and other drugs. The tubules harbour multitudes of bacteria and whenever the sufferer bites down on the root canal-treated tooth, bacteria and their toxins are released into the bloodstream, potentially impacting not only the thyroid gland but also every other organ and system.
